Choose your attitude. This was the message from Debra Searle, the guest speaker at the 2018 BWCA Conference where over 130 delegates experienced uplifting presentations, learnt about the latest industry information and saw new products and services – all resulting in another successful BWCA Conference, Trade Show and Gala Charity Auction Dinner.

Jon warmly welcomed all the conference delegates, thanked all the sponsors and media partners for their kind and continued event support and introduced the fantastic line up of guest speakers.

“It was good to see so many at the Chairman’s Welcome Supper.”
Bruce Orme, Wenlock Spring

“The event was very good and very enjoyable. I really liked the way the new Chairman performed his duties and the evening ‘do’ was very well put together. It’s certainly the best way for our company to keep ourselves relevant.”
Chris Beck, Cascade Water Systems

Keynote Speaker

Debra first hit the news headlines when she set out to row across the Atlantic with her husband.

Unfortunately he had to be rescued so Debra, a novice rower, continued alone and rowed 3000 miles from Tenerife to Barbados – a journey that took her 3 ½ months instead of the planned 6 weeks. She encountered 30’ waves, sharks and force 8 squalls in her 23’ plywood boat. Delegates learnt and were inspired by the many strategies Debra used hour by hour, day by day, to overcome what felt like insurmountable hurdles. “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got. Now I actively seek ways to change things, as I know it will force me to learn, grow and find innovative solutions.” Food for thought for all those attending.

“Debra Searle – very possibly the best speaker so far.”
Chris Hobbs, BWT UK

“You will not get a better speaker than Debra Searle.”
Mark Lane, Silgan Closures

Brendan Hanlon,
Head of Fundraising & Communications,
Just a Drop

Thanks to the generosity of BWCA Members, friends and industry contacts we are now fundraising for our 4th borehole. Brendan gave a moving presentation showing how money raised by the BWCA has, since 2016, enabled three villages in Africa to access fresh, safe, potable water through their own dedicated boreholes where none had been available before.

Nearly £8000 was raised throughout the day and during the evening, including a very successful charity auction, ably overseen by our talented auctioneer Bruce Orme, from Wenlock Spring.
